Douglas Stockyards & General Engineering was first established in 1999. Owners Shawn and Sharon started the business from a small backyard workshop in Mt Helena that rapidly became too small for expanding business and they soon outgrew the premises.

Shawn was born in the Murchison area and began building cattle yards with his father at a very young age. He has spent his whole life working with sheep and cattle in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. When he started the business he spent the first twelve months designing and building railway iron and cable yards throughout the state's north west until realising an overflowing demand for quality prefabricated yards and stock handling equipment.

This was where the true journey began. Since that time we have designed and developed over 200 individual projects. Furthermore, we have been continuously increasing our range to create more new and advanced equipment that can increase productivity and make working with animals safer for all concerned.

Douglas Stockyards is a dedicated growing company with most of our staff coming from a strong background in engineering and agriculture. We have also just started a heavy transport division dedicated to the manufacture and repair of cattle crates, end and side tippers, flat tops, drop decks, dollies and all other areas of the transport industry.

We are very excited about the constant positive feedback we receive from our clients, as most of them have become regulars that always come back for repeat orders. Some of our clients include Rio Tinto, BHP, Department of Agriculture, Western Mining, Westcoast Rodeo Association, GML Livestock & Consulting Service, International Livestock Export, Elders, Landmark and Hamersley Iron.
